Sheesh! I just read on People that Miley Cyrus is planning on making a remake of the 1980s classic rock ballad Every Rose Has Its Thorn. I just hope she doesn't mess with one of my favorite rock songs from the 1980s.

I can't believe I'm finally up to speed on all CSIs - Vegas, Miami and New York. I've had a bit of trepidation with NY since I was disappointed with the road TPTB had chosen to take. Watching it was like ripping off a band-aid from a wound that hasn't completely healed, a bit painful but definitely not the end of the world. Flack is much more scruffier and more rumpled than ever since he has apparently abandoned his fugly ties and suits. I like the casual look on him but the scruff has definitely got to go. :p

I'm actually enjoying Miami much more than NY at the moment. The introduction of Jesse Cardoza (Eddie Cibrian), Walter Simmons (Omar Benz Miller) and Dr. Tom Loman (Christian Clemenson) into the mix is quite refreshing. Mwahahaha, Jesse is such an eye candy! I actually enjoy the interactions between Walter and Ryan and that between Jesse and Walter as well. They're such a hoot and they really play off each other very well. Plus, I like the quirky new coroner Dr. Loman. He's so fun to watch.

As for the triple crossover, I just thought that pretty much was unnecessary. It's like TPTB are over-marketing Ray Langston and forcing him down everyone's throat. Sigh... I did like that end scene in Lover's Lane with the entire Vegas team having fun bowling. Those kinds of moments are what makes me smile.

As promised here's another Pity Party song list for [info]kayorleans .

1. Gregorian - Once In A Lifetime (No need to elaborate...The song's title and lyrics speak for themselves, hahaha!)
2. U2 - With Or Without You (The ultimate U2 love song...taking a cue from Ross and Rachel! Kleenex, Kay?)
3. J. Geils Band - Love Stinks (A humorous anthem for the bitter brokenhearted!!)
4. Lady Gaga - Paparazzi (For the stalker in you and in all of us! :p)
5. INXS - Not Enough Time (Dang right! Not enough time...right, Kay?... For what you actually wanted to happen! If you could freeze time, you would have, for sure! :p)
6. Thompson Twins - If You Were Here (Remember this one from the last scenes of Sixteen Candles?)
7. Kansas - Dust In The Wind (Kinda depressing? You betcha! Kay, need a glass of beer now?)
8. Madonna - Crazy For You (Yes, Kay was crazy for Angell! Bad PTB!)
9. Culture Club - Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? (Kay's question for TPTB...Right? Haha, trying to throw some humor here. :p)
10. The Cure - Just Like Heaven (It would have been if TPTB didn't screw everything up for Kay and for some of us as well! :p)

On another note, I was actually watching cable this morning when I came across The Chocolate War (1988) on MGM. I was laughing my heart out to see a really young Wallace Langham (David Hodges on CSI) playing Archie Costello (to see what he looked like playing a Catholic school boy, click here), as well as Doug Hutchinson (Nick Stokes's Stalker and more famous as Tooms from The X-Files). Last week, it was coming across William Petersen in the 1991 film Hard Promises that had me amused. Man, his curls were longer and so defined, I was actually laughing about it. But I've got to say that Billy Petersen's role as Isabella Rossellini's cheating husband in the film Cousins is what left an impression on my 10-year old self when it came out in 1989. Yes, that looooong ago!

I've compiled this list of songs for my friend, [info]kayorleans, who still can't get over the fact that Angell's been killed off on CSI:NY.  She was actually swinging between being manic and being depressed as we were bantering about some classic '80s music. Our little laughapalooza moment. To my schizo Twinny, here's your Angell song list...

1.  J. Geils Band - Centerfold
2.  The Tubes - She's A Beauty
3.  Greg Laswell - This Woman's Work (a cover version of the Kate Bush classic)
4.  The Police - Wrapped Around Your Finger
5.  The Corrs - Angel (this song isn't from the '80s)
6.  Beyoncé - Halo  (this isn't from the '80s either but definitely gotta love this Ryan Tedder-written song)
7.  Divinyls - I Touch Myself (Mwahahahaha!  You know why, Kay!  Naughty, naughty!! Tsk, tsk!!  Kidding!!)
8.  The Pretenders - Angel Of The Morning
9.  Skid Row - I Remember You (sentimental glam rock power ballad for you, Kay!)
10.  Mr. Big - Just Take My Heart (It's like she had her heart ripped out of her chest for months now. Right, Kay?)

I hate the fact that just as I'm about to depart for Bangkok, work piles up on me.  Why, why, why?!?  Why couldn't that Answer with Counterclaim of opposing party have arrived on Monday or Tuesday when things were sort of slow and mellow (at least as mellow and slow as it can get in a firm)?  I hate that everything happens at the very last minute! Grrrrr...

I went dress hunting for my friend's wedding during my lunch break.  I've seen some dresses but I'm not done with the hunting since I need my sister's opinion on which dress to get.

But the best thing about my little hunting trip was picking up my copy of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell at my local bookseller's.  Yipee!! I've got new books to read since I also bought Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Milan Kundera's The Unbearable Lightness of Being.  I've never tried to read Wuthering Heights before since I know it's such a depressing book and that one has to be in the mood to read such work before picking it up and reading it.  I've finally found the inclination to do just that but first, I have to finish reading the other books still on my plate...and there's a lot on it!

On to other things, well CSI-related that is.  It's supposedly Sara Sidle's birthday today.  Makes me wonder what Nick Stokes would get her for her big day.

I'm so glad to say that I'm a bit better after a bout with the stomach flu.  The damn fresh raw oysters I ate on my birthday wreaked havoc on my system the very next day.  I was indisposed for four days.  I thought that I was just suffering from a hangover when I woke up Sunday morning.  It turns out I had the stomach flu.  Boohoo!!  I really felt like death.  I had no appetite, which is very unusual since I love to eat.  I was on an apple diet for crying out loud.  I couldn't stomach anything else.   I had no energy.  I couldn't even bring myself to read in bed.

Anyway when I finally had a bit of energy to do something,  I watched the DVD of the BBC adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel, North and South.  To say that I fell in love with it is an understatement.  I loved the relationship between the main characters, John Thornton and Margaret Hale.  Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe were brilliantly amazing in their portrayal of the couple.  The story is almost similar to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.  Maybe that's why I loved North and South so much.  I actually saw it twice already.  I even ordered the novel already since my curiousity has been piqued.  I highly recommend the mini-series.  Definitely two thumbs up!!

I really can't believe it's September already.

I'm just glad I finally completed my 36 hours of continuing legal education credits for the current compliance period!  Whew!!  Next year, I need to undergo another 36 hours to cover the years from 2010 to 2013.  Just thinking about it leaves me feeling exhausted!

I finally finished reading Eclipse two weeks ago and I've just got to say that I wanted to slap some sense into Bella Swan.  She just got on my nerves!  Now it's Breaking Dawn for me.  I just hope she's less annoying in this one.  I finally finished reading CSI: In Extremis.  Wow, it was such a drag to read.  Ken Goddard was really good in describing in detail the forensic aspect but he did miserably in his characterizations.  Plus, the ending  left the reader with no resolution at all.  Bummer!!  Now, I've started reading CSI: Nevada Rose by Jerome Preisler.  I'm really annoyed that Nick Stokes only comes into the picture on page 78!!  What's up with that?!?  That's more than 1/3 of the book already!  Moving on, I'm finishing up Love In The Time Of Cholera. This one was such a good read.  I'm looking forward to reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez's other famous novel, One Hundred Years Of Solitude, next.

My birthday is just around the corner and I'm so excited about my birthday dinner at a hotel.  Looking forward to devouring that prime rib! Yummy!!

I finally forced myself to finish reading New Moon.  I say forced because it was really slow on the action.  I hear Eclipse is even more so.  Yeah, I'm now in the second chapter of Eclipse. I will probably be dragging my feet with it. Anyway, on to my story.   Last Sunday, I was just chilling out the whole day, reading my books, munching on some Red Vines.  I say books because I'm juggling three novels at once.  Right now, it's the aforementioned Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer, Love In The Time Of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and lastly, CSI: In Extremis by Ken Goddard.

After reading a few hundred pages of New Moon, I took my siesta a little later than usual.  So I fell asleep and dreamt.

I don't really know but for some reason I tend to get the weirdest dreams when I sleep in the afternoon.  )

I haven't been on a computer since Thursday last week.  My bout with a nasty, nasty cold started Tuesday last week, after I came from a meeting at the SEC.  I could feel my throat starting to get all scratchy which is usually the first sign that I get when I am coming down with something.  I had a feeling it wasn't going to be the flu since I just got a flu shot at the start of June, what with all the scare about A H1N1 going around.  Yeah but I got handed a nasty, nasty cold with matching ear aches.  I started taking antibiotics on Wednesday since I always get the nastiest rhinovirus going around.  All my life, I've always been more susceptible to upper respiratory tract infections, more likely because I was always training in the water, what with me being a competitive swimmer and all.  Although I no longer go swimming on a daily basis, I still succumb to the nastiest flu or colds ever.  I guess I'm just that kind of magnet.  I stayed at home on Friday until Tuesday, skipping work altogether, in order to recuperate quickly.  My damn sinuses were making me miserable.

Anyway, while on bed rest I finally watched the last few episodes of CSI: NY that I have been putting off for more than two months now.  )

A birthday shout out to Jorja Fox.  So, happy, happy birthday Jorja Fox!!  Hope you have a blessed one this year!!

Here's a little something for the birthday girl:

On another front, I can't believe it's now July.  The weather has been sooo unpredictable lately.  One minute, it's all sunshine, with the heat even hotter than that of a furnace, and then the next it's pouring buckets.  Really weird.  About two weeks ago, we even had hail, which rarely happens.  Ah, well, that's global warming for you.
